Build a basic first-aid kit from what you have
Why this matters
When an injury happens, having supplies in one known place saves precious minutes. You can build a useful kit from items already in most homes — no pharmacy trip needed.
What you need
A clean container or bag and a few everyday household items.
These are everyday items. If you don’t have one, look for the closest alternative — the steps will tell you what to use instead.
How to do it
Follow these steps in order. Take your time. You’ve got this.
Gather clean cloths, plasters, a roll of bandage, safe pins, and any antiseptic you have.
Add scissors, clean gloves if available, salt and sugar for rehydration solution, and any regular medicines.
Store everything in one labelled container kept somewhere everyone in the home can reach.
Your one thing today
Find a container today and place at least three first-aid items inside to start your kit.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Do this one thing now, even if it’s small.
Come back tomorrow
A new skill will be waiting for you tomorrow. Or if you’d like to keep learning today, explore the full library.
